My initial approach to these tensions is to meet with all involved to first establish two things: Can something be done? Am I the right person to help you do it? Once we have answers to these questions we can then devise the next step which may well involve further discussions, always with an aim in mind of moving to some point of resolution within a reasonable time frame, and if unable to do so, to work out the next steps. These are always fraught and emotionally charged processes, but also worthwhile and often necessary.
